2022 Civic Scholarship Recipient

July 12, 2022

The BTDC is proud to announce this year’s recipient of the Civic Scholarship, Aavni Deval!

Aavni is an outstanding woman with a strong academic record. She is incredibly active in her school and community, including, among other aspects, her presidency of the Ridge Exploration for Political Participation Club, her support of the congressional and local campaigns, her mentorship of young girls, and her desire for a future career in political science.

We believe she will be a positive force for change in our community, and are delighted to be able to support her journey through this scholarship.

The scholarship, founded in 2019, is awarded to a Ridge High School student, entering their first year of college or senior year of high school, who aspires to foster democratic values including, among others, diversity, equality, truth, justice, and serving their community.

As the recipient, Aavni received $1,000.00 along with a three-week summer internship with New Jersey Congressman Tom Malinowski (D-NJ 7th District) at his New Jersey headquarters. She plans to attend Emory University in the fall. Congratulations Aavni!
