Bernards Woman to Receive Eleanor Roosevelt Volunteer Service Award

Joan Bannan Harris was honored by the Somerset County Federation of Democratic Women on Thursday, September 7th at their Annual Eleanor Roosevelt Volunteer Service Award Dinner. The Eleanor Roosevelt Award honors Somerset County women who volunteer their time to promote and enhance the Democratic principals in our local communities.

Ms. Harris, Democratic candidate for Bernards Township Committee, serves on the Bernards Township Board of Health and the Municipal Alliance Against Drugs and Alcohol. She advocates joining the Stigma Free Communities initiative to reduce the stigma surrounding seeking help for mental health issues. Ms. Harris has also been a volunteer speaker for programs concerning adolescent addiction at community and local school events.
