Bernards Township Democratic Committee Seeks Donations to Benefit Hope for Veterans Program

From April 19 through April 26, the Bernards Township Democratic Committee is asking anyone who is interested to purchase items for veterans transitioning into permanent housing. The Hope for Veterans program, run out of various veterans’ hospitals such as the Veteran Administration Hospital at Lyons, helps veterans struggling with trauma, mental illness and substance abuse issues by providing supportive and transitional housing, counseling, transportation and employment support services.

Anyone who would like to participate is encouraged to donate new cleaning supplies, utensils, kitchen wares, plates, cups, glasses and various toiletry items. You can do so by either dropping them off with Nancy D’Andrea at 3 Vanderveer Drive in Basking Ridge or by ordering items via the online registry:

People who donate may leave a note thanking a veteran for their service.

The full list of NEW home goods needed are: Mops, Brooms, Buckets, Cooking Utensils, Forks, Spoons, Cups/glasses, Pots/pans, Dish Cloths, Towels, Washcloths, Dustpan, Cleaning supplies, and Can openers. 

The list of NEW toiletries needed are: Shaving Cream, Razors, Body Wash, Shampoo, Conditioner, Lotion, Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Alcohol free mouthwash.
