March 27, 2022

The Bernards Township Democratic Committee (BTDC) announces its endorsement of Jessica Simpson-Cook for Bernards Township Committee. Ms. Simpson-Cook will run on the Democratic line in the election this November.

Jessica Simpson-Cook has lived in Bernards Township since 2019 along with her husband.  She is a legal and procurement professional for Mondelēz International and has built her career working at Fortune 500 companies headquartered in New Jersey.  Simpson-Cook earned her business degree from Temple University in 2004, attended Widener University Law School, and earned her Executive MBA from Rutgers University in 2017. She currently serves on the board of the Junior League of the Oranges and Short Hills, which is committed to develop and empower women civic leaders to address the needs of children by tackling food insecurity and improving access to essential items and resources to improve the health and wellness of school-aged children in need.

“I am looking forward to running for Bernards Township Committee this year and to spending time connecting with local residents in order to discuss the daily concerns and needs of our community,” says Simpson-Cook. “If elected, I hope to be a voice for all of our residents and to bring diverse thought and full transparency to the Township Committee.”

BTDC chair Elizabeth Graner says she is excited to see Simpson-Cook on a strong ticket that includes a roster of “incumbent excellence” that includes Congressman Tom Malinowski, Somerset County Sheriff Darrin Russo, County Clerk Steve Peter, and County Commissioner Melonie Marano.  “I am delighted to say that we enthusiastically endorse Jessica this year, not only because she is a talented, intelligent woman who embodies Democratic ideals, but she also brings personal warmth, a wealth of knowledge, and experience from her business and volunteer resume that will appeal to voters from both parties.  I very much look forward to knocking on doors with her again this year.”

The BTDC welcomes new members and has openings for county committee people. In addition to monthly meetings and campaign volunteer opportunities, the BTDC engages its members in fundraising, public relations and communications, research and issues and community service. Our mission is to promote the election and appointment of Democrats who share our values and goals to government offices at the municipal, county, state and federal levels, through community engagement and intelligent leadership. Municipal Matters: March 2026

Hello! The Spring Equinox, March 20, is just around the corner, and just in the nick of time, as the community has “weathered” through several significant snowstorms that prompted school closings and disruption to transit.  I would like to express my gratitude to our Department of Public Works, Police Department, Fire companies and EMT squad […]

True Blue

The BTDC benefits from all sorts of volunteers who work quietly, consistently and under the proverbial radar. One such volunteer is Bhavani Ravichandran. When asked to canvass, she makes herself available. When called on to plant signs – even multiple signs – in her very visible front yard, the answer is always yes. Bhavani grew […]
