A Message From Jon and Sophia

November 23, 2020

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our supporters for your collective efforts during this election season. We are grateful beyond words and deeply appreciative of your commitment and dedication to our shared goals. You have been so generous with your time and resources that easily could have been put to another worthy cause.  But instead, you chose to invest in us, and for that you have our heartfelt gratitude.

While the results are not what we had hoped for, upon reflection there is very little that we would change.  We are proud of the campaign we ran and the important issues that we put front and center. We made it a priority to ensure that all voices in Bernards Township continue to be heard, and that is something that we should be proud of. As we go forward, let’s continue to keep those in office answerable for their actions and the progress we all seek.  The people of Bernards Township deserve nothing less than a fully engaged governing body that represents all Township residents.

We would also like to congratulate Mayor Baldassare and Kate Grochala on their victory. This is a great responsibility, and we wish them both the best of luck.

Finally, we would like offer our enormous thanks to our central campaign team: Catherine Santaiti, Sara Nichols, Steve Glickman, Sanjay Bery, Nancy D’Andrea, Jane Conklin, Jen Kluger, and Liz Graner. You are all unbelievably talented people who chose to invest your valuable time into this campaign and an unwavering belief in us as candidates. We are humbled to have had you all in our corner every step of the way. Even though we did not prevail, your efforts were instrumental in us getting more Democratic votes in Bernards Township than ever before. This is progress that will ensure accountability at the highest level.

We wish you all a happy, healthy holiday season.  Please stay safe.

With gratitude,

Sophia Chadda and Jon Sandler

This year’s theme, “A Wintry White Christmas” was a wonderful evening of laughter and love.    During December the Township Committee held two meetings. At the December 9 meeting, […]

Hailing from Austin, Texas where they met and studied computer science, Linda Ness and Munir Cochinwala have enjoyed decades raising their family in Basking Ridge. While Linda grew up on a dairy farm in southern Minnesota, and Munir in Pakistan, this dynamic pair shares common ground in their support for democracy in all its iterations. […]

True Blue: Casey Collins

Not only is Casey Collins a true-blue Democrat, she’s a true-blue friend. As a freshman at UC Santa Barbara, during the first week of college, Casey met two men who would both become loves of her life. One would become her husband, but that story is for another day. The other would become a lifelong […]
